Upon arrival we transfer to the our hotel in Hammamet. This evening will be our Welcome Dinner.

Spend a day at leisure. You may enjoy the beach and the facilities of our resort hotel, or explore the town on your own and see the ancient fortress and old market.

Today we take a tour to Cape Bon, known as Tunisia’s Garden Peninsula for its lush agriculture, orchards and vineyards. The highlight is a visit of Kerkouane, the most perfectly preserved Phoenician town in the world, where excavations revealed luxurious homes remarkably like those in Tunisia today.

This morning we explore the town to see the ancient fortress. We tour the Medina of Hammamet and visit the museum of Dar Khadija before we enjoy a lunch with wine tasting.

We depart from Hammamet and continue to El Jem where we visit the extraordinary Roman Amphitheatre, the most impressive Roman monument in Africa. Next, we travel to Matmata where the Berbers live in subterranean caves and courtyards made of sandstone. These Troglodyte houses were made famous as a film location for the movie “Star Wars.” We end our day in Douz, the Gateway to the Sahara. This afternoon you might enjoy an optional camel ride.

Cross the Salt Lake of Chott El Jerid, once called the Lake of Marks for the palm trees that were planted across the parched terrain as a guide for trading caravans. We arrive to Tozeur, a desert resort with breathtaking scenery. The movie, “The English Patient” was filmed here. After lunch we will visit the local Medina.

Embark on a Jeep ride into the desert to visit the canyon of Ong Jemel. Our next stop is at the small Chebika oasis. The remains of the old village are perched on a rock platform bordered by palms and steep gorges. At Tamerza water cascades from a high cliff feeding the streams and farmlands below. We return to Tozeur for a dinner with Folkloric show.

This morning we depart for Kairouan. En route we stop in Sbeitla, where we will visit the Roman ruins of Sufetula, containing the best preserved Roman forum temples in the country. This afternoon we visit the Medina in Kairouan.

We depart on our tour this morning and our first stop will be the Holy City of Kairouan, Tunisia’s oldest Arab city and Islam’s 4th most holy centre. It has a fascinating architectural style with a strong Eastern influence. We visit the Grand Mosque, the Barber’s Mausoleum, and the Aghlabid Pools. We continue to Sousse where we will enjoy lunch and the balance of the afternoon at leisure.

Day at leisure to enjoy the seaside resort and its pools, tennis and white sand beach. A short stroll takes you to the marina with its cafés, restaurants and boutiques.

Today we visit the coastal city of Monastir and the Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, a monumental grave containing the remains of the former president and father of Tunisian independence. We then visit Sousse where we will explore the walled medina (old town) with its narrow winding streets, markets, and artisans. After lunch we explore the Sousse Archaeological Museum, home to antiques of African Modern Art stretching as far back as the 7th century BC and includes remarkable mosaics including the “Head of Medusa” and the “Face of Oceanus”.

Day at leisure to enjoy your coastal resort and surrounding area.

We depart Sousse today for the impressive Roman site of Dougga, located in the mountains 550 metres above sea level. The site features grandiose temples and theaters, a forum and markets in remarkable state, all situated on the mountainside overlooking the valley far below. Following our visit we continue to the seaside town of Gammarth, located just north of the capital city of Tunis.

Our tour of the capital city of Tunis will include the Bardo Museum. Housed in a former palace, you will find here one of the finest collections of Roman mosaics in the world.
