Moderate pace with leisurely intermittent walks up to 2 hours on a variety of terrain, including cobblestones and moderate hills. Must be able to climb at least two flights of stairs, negotiate steps without railings and tolerate periods of standing during guided tours. Some days may include 3–5 km of walking over the course of the day.
Fly to Panama and transfer to our hotel in Panama City.
This morning, we’ll take a half-day tour of the city, exploring the ruins of Old Panama, climbing the cathedral tower to see incredible city views, and visiting the Old Panama City Museum. We will also see the famous Casco Antiguo (old city), the Flat Arch, The Cathedral, Las Bovedas and the French Plaza. Welcome Dinner at our hotel in the evening.
Today we board the Pacific Queen and set sail to the Panama Canal. We’ll traverse the Miraflores Locks and tour Miraflores Lake, where we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch. Dinner will be at a local restaurant, where we’ll enjoy Panamanian cuisine and a traditional dance show.
This morning we will be transferred to El Corotu, on the shores of Madden Lake. Here we will board a motorized piragua (dugout canoe) and travel through dense jungle up the Chagres River to an Embera Indigenous village. We will be welcomed with traditional dancing and music, learn about Embera traditions and close relationship with nature. Enjoy a traditional lunch before returning to Panama City.
It's time to head to our next destination. We take a short flight and head to the luxurious Valle Escondido Resort in Boquete—a beautiful valley at the foot of the Baru Volcano. We will stay for the next 3 nights, with plenty of time to explore and relax in this lush setting.
Today we discover something Panama is particularly famous for: coffee! We will tour a local plantation that has been operating since 1898 in the foothills of Baru Volcano. We will learn about the history of the estate and their processes, enjoying tastings of freshly grown coffee.
Day at leisure to enjoy our hotel’s extensive amenities: take a dip in the pool, get a massage at the spa, or play a round of golf at their challenging 9-hole executive course.
This morning we transfer to Chitre, where we will spend the afternoon living the Panamanian experience learning how locals live in the countryside. We will enjoy the company of a rural family who will teach us the secrets of Panamanian gastronomy and prepare a delicious meal
Today we discover the vibrant traditions of Panama’s Azuero Peninsula, where folklore and craftsmanship are part of everyday life. Meet local artisans who handcraft the elegant “Pollera” dress, dramatic Diablicos masks, and rhythmic wooden drums. Enjoy a hands-on pottery experience in La Arena, indulge in its famous bread with local cheese and coffee, and see how the beloved “cutarras” sandals are made.
